Smalls – everyday Merino basics for kids

Smalls – everyday Merino basics for kids

Let’s talk about essentials. Basics. Garments that are made to be functional and stylish. I ran into Cat from Smalls during CIFF in February and we had a very lovely conversation.

About wool, high quality basics and how these two can be stylish as well. Because this is what I noticed immediately when I looked through the rails at the fair: Smalls took the ‘essential garments’ to another level and made them in beautiful colours and really modern cuts.

The brand launched in 2014 and was created by Cat Pharo and Emma-Jane Adam, both British, New Zealand-born parents-of-three.  They identified a need in the market for high performance yet fashion focused and beautifully crafted merino essentials.

Why merino? Cool when it’s hot, warm when it’s cold!

And: It is machine washable, super soft, breathable and it is thin.

Thin? Yes! Perfect for layering and for free playing… no need for chunky sweaters to stay cosy…

Look at this long sleeve tee for example. It comes in different colours, has cool neon stitches {same here – different colours available} and the back is a little longer and round shaped. A perfect piece for every day.

And I love that Smalls offers bundles – for twins and addicts that cannot wait for their garment to come back from the laundry.

Good to know: Smalls super merino has a UPF of 50 for built-in sun protection. Only uses ZQ approved wool which is the very best in the world. There are no itchy labels and merino is keeping skin dry and makes it less prone to eczema.

What are you waiting for? We are wearing ours all the time because it is still really chilly in the mornings. A merino top and a good wind jacket is perfect.

PS: Merino is getting softer and softer with every wash – these pieces can be handed down and even be kept for the next generation!
