We headed to the Berkshires for a mini fall getaway where is located in Western Mass, the scenic views of this area mixed with the fall vibes were simply beautiful.
Day 1: We went on a drive for some leaf peeping and hoped to go on a mini hike with the girls. Our trip was planned rather last minute so we decided to just go with the flow to find activities to do based on the weather and the girls’ energy levels which was a perfect fall day complete with warm sunshine. Although we didn’t go on a “hike,” we found a great spot in the town of Stockbridge with a sprawling landscape and gorgeous fall colors. We spent time walking around and hanging in the tree tops, watching our girls enjoy themselves.
Day 2: We spent most of our day in the town of Great Barrington. Started off with coffee for the adults and some pastries and croissants for the kids at the cozy Patisserie Lenox which was a rather chilly and rainy day. So instead of a foliage walk, we browsed some fun antique shops and toy stores in the town. The girls tried on several vintage hats, and then ended up buying some books and puzzles from a beautiful kids store called Matrushka. We ended the afternoon eating artisan pizza at Baba Louie’s followed by candy treats at a “cutesy” candy store.
Just as we started driving, I thought about how any fall getaway isn’t complete without warm apple cider and cider doughnuts. And just then, lo and behold, I saw a sign for an apple orchard. Delicious apple cider, doughnuts, and pumpkin picking – it was the perfect fall trifecta! We were so thrilled and so sugar high after all that goodness – the girls ran around and got some energy out. We then enjoyed a walk in the nursery. It was time to finally head home and say goodbye to the Berkshires. My oldest has already announced that she wants to plan a long weekend there in the summer to enjoy more of what their scenery and charming towns have to offer. I think we just might have to take her up on that idea!
